A Look Back In Time- Vale v Wolves

With Wolves set to visit the Potteries in August, a look back at an encounter from the 1995/96 season…

After promotion to League One, possibly the first fixture Valiant supporters looked for was that with Staffordshire rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers. Kenny Jackett`s men will visit the Potteries on August 31st and to get you in the mood here is a look back at Vale`s 2-2 draw with the Wolves from the 1995/96 season. An Andy Porter penalty earned Vale a point after being 2-0 down at half time.

Vale finished the season safely in mid table in the Championship, with the Wolves only narrowly avoiding relegation. That particular season also saw Vale reach the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, dumping holders Everton out of the competition, completing the ‘double` over rivals Stoke City and suffering a defeat to Genoa in the Final of the Anglo Italian Cup.
