Manager Micky Adams has said he’s pretty content with our opening day point against Walsall, but he knows there is plenty of room for improvement as the season goes on.

Speaking to the Official Site following the draw, he did also talk about his disappointment given how commanding we were in the first period.

‘I’m pleased with certain aspects of the performance, particularly in the first half we were excellent. However, in the second half we weren’t so good.’

Adams goes on to say that for the first period we were getting the ball down and playing it well out to Mark Marshall and some of his deliveries into the box were fantastic, and obviously playing like that led to our goal, but for some reason we just didn’t carry that on in the second period and they obviously got back into it.

‘I would have liked the three points from the game, but very similar to last season we played a good side and got something out of it. We’re off and running which is always important. The first point on the board and I’m sure we’ll get better.’

The gaffer ends by saying that obviously there are areas of our game that we still need to work hard on, but ultimately that’s football and it never changes, but as long as you know you’ve got to work on things you can constantly look to improve.
