Micky Adams was today deservedly named as League Two Manager of the Month for September. The Valiants won all five league games during the month without conceding a goal.

Former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley, now Chairman of the npower Manager of the Month panel, commented. ‘Port Vale’s 100% record is a fantastic achievement. Not only did they win every game but they also didn’t concede a goal all month. Adams deserves great credit for overseeing this run of form which has taken them to the top of the npower League table’.

Meanwhile, Vale striker Marc Richards was beaten to the player award by Bury striker Ryan Lowe.

Congratulations to Micky and all the team for the award. The trophy will be presented before Vale’s next home game, against Gillingham on the 16th October.
