Boss Micky Adams paid tribute to the club`s supporters, after over 8,000 turned up to witness the Vale`s 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town. The win cemented Vale`s position as League leaders ahead of Saturday`s encounter at Oxford United. Speaking to Official Site Adams urged calm, ‘We have got to remain level headed; I have got to keep everybody’s feet on the ground. I am just pleased for everybody, I am pleased for Bill Bratt and all the directors, fans and everybody connected with the club because it has been a long time coming. We have been in the doldrums a long time and I am pleased to see the amount of fans that turned up for the game. The noise they generated was fantastic and it was a cracking game`.

Vale will travel to the Kassam Stadium in great heart, with an opportunity to register a fifth consecutive away win. Adams believes that the confidence in the squad is such that Vale fear no one on their travels. ‘Some football clubs cannot buy wins away from home but we’re lucky, we have had four so far and we are delighted with that. I think the win at QPR, at the beginning of the season, gave us a great belief and confidence that we can go anywhere and get a win, and we will try and do our best to do that on Saturday`.
