Akpo Sodje has now completed a transfer to Championship Club Sheff Wednesday.

Akpo will move for an initial £250,000 with £150k payable up front and £100k to come next year. A further £50 will come to Vale depending on how successful Wednesday are with Akpo in the team.

No details of what Wednesday consider ‘successful’ have yet been released, although at present not losing a game in the league will be high up in their priorities.

Wonder what Leon Constantine makes of it? He was convinced that Championship football was coming his way at the end of last season, and there’s no doubt that he is techniquely a far better striker than Akpo, and yet here we are with Sodje playing for a Championship club and Leon at the bottom of League 1. Leon, once his ankle is better, will be kicking himself!

Akpo had a fantastic season at Vale Park last year. Player Of The Year and a definite favourite amongst the fans. Sodje is a tireless worker who gives it everything every game.

Vital Port Vale wishes him well with his move.

Good luck to him, he’s been great for us. What’ll Foyle do with the money? Buy Clayton Fortune! He needs a central midfield playmaker (we’ve got 4 centre mids and none can do that job), a centre half and of course a replacement for Akpo.

We’ll miss him. Thats Leon, Sonner, Walsh and Sodje we’ve lost from last season and look at what we’ve brought in. Bottom half of the league finish I reckon, a relegation battle if we don’t sort ourselves out quickly. Its very disappointing at the moment.

Best entertainment we had last season, this is a big loss for us. Wish him all the best for the future.

Not looked that good this season if we’re really honest even though he was dynamite at times last season. Good bit of business I reckon, just depends on how the board allow Foyle to use the money.
