Port Vale are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Jak Alnwick in the one nil victory over MK Dons at the weekend at Stadium:MK was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Alnwick was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A few contenders for the goalkeeper spot as ever, but Alnwick gets the nod for a fine display, producing a string of saves and keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 win at Milton Keynes Dons. Special mentions to Lawrence Vigouroux of Swindon Town who was finally beaten by a late own goal, and Cambridge United’s Will Norris, who made it three penalty saves in two games with his weekend stop.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Alnwick for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Jak Alnwick (Port Vale), Niall Canavan (Rochdale), Sonny Bradley (Plymouth Argyle), Christian Burgess (Portsmouth), Matty Blair (Doncaster Rovers), Nicky Law (Bradford City), Jake Reeves (Wimbledon), Jason Kennedy (Carlisle United), Ryan Flynn (Oldham Athletic), Matt Green (Mansfield Town), Tom Nichols (Peterborough United).

Manager – Neal Ardley (Wimbledon).
