Former Vale midfielder Ryan Burge has revealed the possibility of joining Vale`s League One rivals Peterborough United for next season.

Burge was a key performer for Vale until his ill-advised rant on Twitter regarding his non-selection for the Valiants` game at Bristol Rovers in March. Having failed to apologise, Burge was initially suspended for 14 days, before being released.

The former Doncaster Rovers player states that there was interest in him in the January transfer window from ‘Posh`; however, Sky Sports` claim that he was the subject of a six-figure bid seems somewhat spurious given that Vale could have held on to him until the summer and received a fee. Speaking to the Press Association, Burge said, “In January time there was Peterborough that were pretty keen on taking me, so now I am out of contract there is no fee it makes it a lot more appealing to a club.

“That was in January, but Peterborough are obviously a massive club. It’s disappointing that they have come down but I am sure they will bounce back up.’

“I am confident I could do a job at Championship level. It’s a lot easier to go into the Championship level when you have had more experience.

“I have obviously had games and won a promotion so now I am in a better position to make that step up.’
