Following the signing of Kaid Mohamed, fellow Cheltenham midfielder Darren Carter could also be making the switch to the Potteries.

Reports in local media suggest that Vale boss Micky Adams is keen on adding the former Birmingham City player to his squad. The 29 year old has been dogged with injuries over recent years; however, he recaptured some form and fitness last season, turning out 33 times for the Robins before losing his place in the side towards the end of the season.

Carter famously scored the penalty kick which secured promotion to the Premiership for the Blues back in 2002, before making a switch to near neighbours West Brom for £1.5 million. The midfielder has some much needed experience at a higher level and providing he stays fit and can recapture some of his best form, could be an ideal fit for the Valiants
