Port Vale’s League 1 season gets underway against Crewe at Gresty Road on Saturday to kick-off the 2015/16 season; which will of course see expectations high that under Rob Page we’ll be able to improve on the decline at the end of last season, starting at our rivals!

Crewe will be without Harry Davis (knee), who has been appointed as the Alex’s captain, and James Jones (shoulder) with Ryan Colclough signing a new deal after a training spell with Wolves.

Steve Davis could give debuts to Ben Nugent, David Fox, Adam King and Billy Bingham with new ‘keeper Dave Richards backing up Ben Garratt.

Page has been busy this summer, we’ve seen plenty leave the Valiants but we’ve also brought in several too.

Former Newcastle ‘keeper Jak Alnwick has signed a short-term deal with Vale and could, probably would, come in for a debut with Chris Neal (ankle) out after surgery, with Michael O’Connor (knee) also sitting out.

Ben Purkiss, Sam Foley and former Crewe trio, Anthony Grant, Uche Ikpeazu and Ajay Leitch-Smith could be in line to make their Valiants debuts after arriving on varying deals this summer.

The full fixtures this weekend are:-

Burton v Scunthorpe
Chesterfield v Barnsley
Colchester v Blackpool
Coventry v Wigan
Crewe v Port Vale
Doncaster v Bury
Fleetwood v Southend
Gillingham v Sheff Utd
Rochdale v Peterborough
Shrewsbury v Millwall
Swindon v Bradford
Walsall v Oldham

It goes without saying Vale will be ‘be hopeful’ of a positive result but will we get this?

Whatever the line up the boss goes with expectancy will be high but ahead of the game we’re looking for your views on what way you think it will go, which obviously requires you to vote in the latest poll one of three ways….

Crewe win
Port Vale win
Draw

Not only do we want you to cast your vote, which you do to your right, we’re also looking for your thoughts and views too so do share some of those with your comments below.
