With Northern Ireland securing a place at Euro 2016 now Ryan McGivern has told the Official Website he would love to be part of that squad for his country, however he’s not looking ‘too far ahead.’

As much as being in the Northern Ireland squad going to the Euros in France next summer would ‘be brilliant’ McGivern, ahead of the defeat at Southend, said first-team football with Port Vale is his priority at the moment.

McGivern was involved for the first time this season for Port Vale in the JPT defeat against Blackpool last Tuesday but knowing he’s not been ‘involved her too much’ so far he’s not looking that far ahead yet.

‘That would be brilliant to be fair.

‘I can’t look too far ahead in terms of obviously I’ve not been involved here too much this season.’

If the defender can ‘nail down a regular place’ at Vale Park again you never know, Irish eyes could be smiling on him at the end of the season?

Should be manage this he’ll have a chance, but if that did happen it would be ‘a bonus’ for him anyway.

‘I need to first of all try and get game time here and make the most of it, get myself in the team and then if that was the case further down the line it`d be a bonus.

‘But I’m not getting too far ahead of myself, I need to get games here first before I can think about getting back in the international team.’

This has to be added incentive for him, as it would any Northern Irish football now, as chances to play at a major finals aren’t going to come around too often!

Impress Rob Page first and foremost and that will enhance the chances.
