The winner of our Vital poll asking ‘who has been the best striker at Vale Park’ is current manager Martin Foyle.

Some may question Foyle’s ability as a manager, but there is certainly no questions about his ability as a striker.

The Tin Man beat Leon Constantine into second place by just 1%!

Foyle began his career at Southampton, before moving on to Aldershot then Oxford Utd. However, Foyle’s star really began to shine in 1999 when he joined the mighty Valiants for £375,000.

Foyle finally retired in 2000 after struggling with injuries. In all Martin made 356 appearances for Vale, scoring 107 goals – a post war record at the club.

Foyle took over as Youth team coach after retiring, then took over as manager from Brian Horton in February 2004.

Poll Result

Martin Foyle 31%
Leon Constantine 30%
Tony Naylor 17%
Steve Brooker 9%
Stephen McPhee 8%
Billy Paynter 5%
