Further Hold Up To Ryder Deal

Despite continued speculation to the contrary, Bob Young and Keith Ryder continue to assure supporters that the businessman`s takeover over the club is still on track. Many expected the deal to be ratified several weeks ago, though it has been persistently delayed for unknown reasons. What problem remains and who is causing the hold up is unclear. Young insists only one further unresolved issue remains to be addressed. Speaking to The Sentinel, administrator Young claims as a result of a number of other clubs entering administration over the last few months, the Football League are ensuring that the necessary protocol is followed for prospective investors. “They have tightened up their criteria as a result of problems at other clubs.

“They have made conditions more onerous, but Keith has been happy to accept all of the other clauses they have insisted on.’

“I think it’s relatively solvable, but there is definitely an issue to be overcome.

“It seems quite a Draconian provision by the Football League, so it’s difficult for Keith to just say ‘yes’ to it like that.

Meanwhile, the Port Vale supporters have issued a statement also clarifying the situation. Pete Williams stated, “I can say I have spoken to Mr Ryder this morning and he assures me that rumours that the deal has fallen through or that he has pulled out are completely untrue and that he is working very hard to resolve the outstanding issues.

“I understand how frustrated and concerned fans are. However, the Supporters’ Club is working very hard to keep abreast of the situation and will issue a further statement as soon as we have any news.

It seems as if patience remains the word of the day, although supporters can be forgiven for becoming increasingly restless at recent events where information and reassurance has been difficult to come by. Fingers crossed for some positive developments over the coming days.
