Here Come Leeds!

Could it be possible? Can we actually record back-to-back wins for the first time this season?

The omens are looking good. There is absolutely no pressure on us because we have nothing – bar pride – to play for now. For our visitors its a completely different story. Despite coming into the season with a 15-point deduction they were still many people’s favourite for automatic promotion, and they began the season looking like a team who could go through the whole campaign undefeated.

So whats happened? Well, clearly they are not as good as what people originally believed – but should still make the play-off’s. In fact, I think its fair to say that they are doing a pretty good impression of Forest at the moment, another team who think that they are too good to be playing in this league.

This is a massive game for them, coming on the back of a surprise home defeat against Cheltenham in the week.

Could anyone have imagined this scenario four years ago?

The Managers…

‘I don’t care if they have the bigger name, the better history, ground or burgers. you are playing 11 people on the pitch… It is up to us to prove we are better on the day.’ – This is what Lee Sinnott told The Sentinel today, and its also exactly what he said before our visit to Swansea a little while back. Burgers? Why’s he always on about burgers?

Meanwhile, over in Yorkshire my Cousin claims to have overheard a bewildered balding Scotsman make this statement in a Pizza Hut near to junction 46 of the M1 yesterday…

‘I haven’t really got a clue what I’m doing and my players are bricking it at the prospect of another humiliating defeat on Saturday.’

Could this be Mr.McAllister? Or just another made up story from my booze addled relative?

Port Vale Team News:

Chris Herd made his last appearance for Vale on Tuesday night at Crewe and has now returned to Villa, which leaves us without any spark or verve for Saturday. No matter, we’ve always got Harsley, Hulbert, Howlands and Whitaker to provide the midfield threat!

Luke Rodgers returned to the staring line-up on Tuesday and scored his first goal for three months and should be partnering Marc Richards up front.

Player to watch: Marc Richards…

D’you know what? I’m backing Marc to get his first goal of the season on Saturday. Richards has had a frustrating season with injuries and has yet to prove himself to the Vale Faithful. Saturday will be his day. Thats if he plays of course…

Leeds Utd Team News:

Disappointingly Leon Constantine went out on loan to Oldham a couple of weeks ago. I’d have liked to have seen him playing on Saturday.

Player to watch: Joe Jordan…

Admittedly I haven’t really paid much attention to our visitors for a few years, but this young ferocious-looking striker may have a big future in front of him.

Earlier This Season…

We lost 3-0 at Elland Road in what was pretty much a one-way affair.

Match Prediction:

Port Vale 3-2 Leeds Utd

Believe and it will happen…

Next Fixture…

Thurs 20th March Tranmere (a) 7.45ko
