Port Vale are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Michael O’Connor in the three one victory over Southend United at the weekend at Vale Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why O’Connor was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘O`Connor was influential as Port Vale got the weekend off to a flyer, defeating Southend United 3-1 on Friday night. The Northern Irishman`s corner led to the opener, before he doubled the advantage himself. Then, his free-kick deflected in off Southend`s Ben Coker, to give the Valiants an unassailable first-half lead.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to O’Connor for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
