Not only did Port Vale continue an unbeaten run, this was managed with the Valiants securing a win over Sheffield United on Saturday at Vale Park.

Vale boss Rob Page was ‘proud of the boys’ after the win.

He, in sharing his thought with the Official Website, said his only disappointment was that Vale didn’t manage more goals than they did in the two-one win.

‘I’m really proud of the boys. I thought the first ten or fifteen minutes they came at us and we knew they were going to have a lot of the ball. But I thought our discipline in defending was outstanding and then we took the game to them.

‘We felt there was a time in the game where we said ‘enough is enough now, we’re going to impose ourselves on you’.

‘We kept the ball and I thought that we used it really well today. Great goals and I thought we could have had another couple as well.’
