Interim manager Rob Page has admitted his great disappointment at the team not being able to hold on to the lead last night, and admitted he’s contemplating changes for the game this weekend on the back of that showing.

Speaking to Vale Player, the manager talked of his ‘bitter disappointment’ at seeing us not hold on for all three points.

‘When you take the lead and you’re playing against ten men and you only get a point you’re going to be bitterly disappointed.’

He goes on to say that things on the evening weren’t going for us and the decision making was all wrong because at times we were trying to play in the wrong areas and in many ways we invited pressure onto ourselves, and ended up sitting too deep.

‘We conceded a silly free kick, we allowed them to get the ball in the box, we’ve not got tight and it’s two all. It’s hard to accept at this moment in time.’

Speaking further, and in quotes carried here by The Sentinal, having only made one change for the Scunthorpe game, he talked about having a chat with the rest of the coaching team and seeing if it would be in the squads best interests to rotate things for the next game.

‘If I feel that is the right thing to do to help the club and help the lads get that win then I will do it. We will come in on Thursday, work hard again and try to put things right.’

It’s also being reported that striker Tom Pope may have sustained a knee injury in the game. The 29 year old appeared to be struggling come the full time whistle, but as of yet there hasn’t been nothing but speculation about this.

Hopefully a knock at worst but hopefully certainly nothing too serious that requires a lay off.
