Porter Will Not Be Assistant Manager

Andy Porter will not be installed as Dean Glover`s number 2 it has been revealed by The Sentinel today, but thankfully neither will Mark Grew.

So Vale will be looking to appoint a new Assistant Manager externally, which is a little surprising as it seemed to be apparent that we didn`t have a penny to spend. Unless of course Bratt has found someone prepared to do it on a voluntary basis, or maybe some youth on some ‘vocational training` course as an alternative to borstal.

After meeting with Porter Glover had this to say to The Sentinel:

“We`ve all agreed as to which way we think things should be and we are looking forward to working together.”

What? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Looking forward to working together? They`ve been working together for some time now, what does Glover mean?

Glover is also quoted with the following:

“Now I`ve got to bring in outside help and hope that a fresh face will give everybody a lift. Its got to be someone I know well and somebody I can trust and who will get on with my staff.”

Somebody I can trust. Quite right there Dean! You don`t want an Assistant who will undermine you at every opportunity and stick the knife in the minute your back is turned. Thats what happened to the last manager…

Glover is keeping tight-lipped on who may be in the frame for the Assistant Manager post, however The Sentinel reckons that Steve Davis – Head Coach at Nantwich Town – may well be the man. His credentials are certainly right, apparently he has been friends with Glover for an awful long time…

So what will become of Porter? No way can he be happy with this situation. Expect to see him departing Vale Park sometime soon.

I’m amazed at this and can’t see him hanging around either. No surprise that the favourite for the job is an old friend of Glover, typical Vale.

It may not be a bad thing to get some new blood into the Management team, it surely can’t get any worse. Funny to see that Glover wants ‘trust’ from the Assistant Manager!
