It probably doesn’t have quite the appeal to many it once did (too many devalue it) but the FA Cup is still regarded by many as ‘the best cup competition in the world’, Port Vale now enter the competition.

Port Vale entertain Milton Keynes Dons, who have a good record in cup-ties in recent years, at Vale Park this afternoon in this FA Cup first round tie.

Rob Page has made it clear that he wants to name a ‘strong side’ but with a trio of players a booking from suspension Michael O’Connor, Richard Duffy and Ryan McGivern could all, or some, be rested?

Remie Streete has extended his loan spell until January and has permission from Newcastle United to feature.

MK Dons will be missing Darren Potter and Antony Kay (both suspension) but 18-year-old striker Kabongo Tshimanga, who has a phenomenal 27-goals already at development level, is in the squad and could make his debut.

You can’t beat the magic of the cup, we’ll not want this to end today!
