The Valiants are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper after Stuart Tomlinson rejected the chance to extend his stay at Vale Park. The move had widely been expected as the former Crewe custodian had stalled on a decision over recent weeks. Having initially impressed during his first six months at the club, Tomlinson endured a difficult time last season. Following Chris Martin`s release, Vale now only have youngster Sam Johnson on the books, though Adams told the The Sentinel a replacement was now a priority, ‘We offered Stuart a decent contract and he didn’t sign it.

‘It’s disappointing, but that’s his prerogative.

‘That offer is no longer on the table, so we are now looking for a new goalkeeper.’
