Rob Page doesn’t lack attacking options with the Official Website confirming the signing for JJ Hooper, who also increases the former Newcastle contingent at Vale Park added to Remi Streete and Jak Alnwick.

Hooper, who started his career with Newcastle and had a spell in League 2 with Northampton, was prolific with Non League side Havant & Waterloovile last season but is now a Vale player.

He scored 20-goals in 29-matches for Havant last season to finish as their top goalscorer with Page keen to give him a chance back in the Football League with Vale, on his signing he said.

‘We’re delighted to have added JJ to our squad. He’s a very talented player with a keen eye for goal.

‘He was prolific last season for Havant & Waterlooville and we’re hoping he can build on that and make strides with Port Vale in League One now.’

Hooper was prolific as a youngster with Newcastle but couldn’t force his way into the Premier League clubs side, having dropped down the leagues – as many players do – the 21-year-old has his chance to get his professional career going again after signing this two-year deal with the Valiants.
