Vale Can’t Be Stopped

It’s the usual evening visit to Birkenhead for Vale, and surely another three points in the bag for us.

We are in astonishing form at the moment, unbeaten in two games and firing on all cylinders. No one can stop us right now.

Its just a shame that this couldn’t have happened before we’d got ourselves rooted to the bottom of the table with relegation just a mere formality with dismal peformance following dismal performance. Its all a bit too late, although it does bode well for next season in League.2, Lee Sinnott will be taking us straight back up. Believe and it will happen…

Our hosts are currently 7th in the table and fighting for a crack at the play-off’s. We’ll be doing Brighton, Leyton Orient and Leeds a big favour tonight.

In The News

‘The pressure is on them to beat poor old Port Vale… We have nothing to fear, we will just go there and give it a good go.’

So says a defiant Paul Harsley talking to The Sentinel yesterday. Our new Captain Marvel (two goals in two games!) sounds well up for tonights game, and thinks we could surprise Tranmere…

Meanwhile Manager Lee Sinnott has also been talking to The Sentinel and has seen lots of positives from our outstanding performance last Saturday against Leeds, but needs to see those kinds of display week in week out…

‘It will be a great test.. I have thought about this, it is pointless only raising your game for Leeds United when there are 4,000 away fans at your ground…’

Tranmere Rovers Team News:

Ronnie Moore knows the score. The Tranmere Gaffer has virtually thrown in the towel before a ball has been kicked. Speaking to the official Tranmere Site Moore has admitted that they were lucky to come away from Vale Park with a point earlier in the season, and has warned his players to ignore our current league position as we play more like a team from the top half of the league.

Player to watch: Chris Greenacre…

The striker had some success against us last season and is Tranmere’s top scorer so far this season.

Port Vale Team News:

Its looking good for us right now. Luke Rodgers has returned to the side with a bullet, scoring twice in the last two games (two in two games!) and is clearly way too good to be heading for League 2. Marc Richards is also at last showing us what he is capable of, but is still to score (none all season!).

Ex Chasetown striker Kyle Perry is beginning to show some menace, and set up Saturday’s 93rd minute equaliser for Luke Rodgers. Perry will do the business for us next season…

No injury problems for Vale (Colin Miles doesn’t count). Be warned Tranmere, this is a full strength Vale tonight…

Player to watch: Luke Rodgers…

Twelve to his name so far this season, and this despite suffering a barren three months over December, January and February. Back in form.

Earlier This Season…

We were all over Tranmere in a 0-0 draw at Vale Park, a game we really should have won.

Match Prediction:

Tranmere 0-2 Port Vale I can’t see anything other than a Vale victory tonight, Rodgers and Richards to both find the net.

Next Fixture…

Monday 24th March Gillingham (h) 3pm
