Colin Daniel has struggled to command a regular place in the starting XI at Port Vale since his arrival at Vale Park in the summer.

Former boss Micky Adams signed the midfielder from Mansfield Town on a free in the summer but he’s been limited to just two league 1 starts so far this campaign and has found it frustrating and disappointing but he’s up for the fight of earning his place.

Daniel knows that if someone else, and the team as a whole, are doing the business you can’t have too much complaint but taking his chance when it comes is all he can do.

He BBC Radio Stoke: ‘If someone is playing in your position, you just want them to do well. If the team is doing well, you can’t really moan,’ Daniel continued.

‘When you do get your chance, you’ve got to try and take it.’

Coming off the bench to score the winner, as he did on Saturday in the two-one win over Colchester United, wouldn’t have done his chances of a start next time any harm at all!

The ‘easy option’ of going out on loan, which was offered to him, was turned down ahead of the game at the weekend as he wants to stick it out and fight for his place.

Rob Page admitted that Daniel was ‘one of them that I said might not be in my plans’ but as is the way in football things can change, Saturday’s game called for his introduction and he took his chance making an instant impact.

Now to build on this, if he can?
