Martin Foyle has acted quickly following the loss of club captain Sam Collins to Hull City. With another player promised on Thursday, Foyle has snapped up Bristol City defender Clayton Fortune on loan deal which keeps him at Vale Park until January.

Foyle said: ‘We are absolutely desperate for players because of the injury situation here at Vale Park and I knew we had to bring somebody in by the weekend. It was Lee Matthews who alerted me to the availability of Clayton, who was about to join Wycombe Wanderers, but fortunately he decided to come here instead. He is a good size, predominately left footed and hopefully he can push on and get some games under his belt because he certainly has the pedigree.’

Fortune is 23 tomorrow. He joined Bristol City after being released by Spurs. He has started 37 games for them.
