Walsh signs for Alsager Town

‘The Sentinel’ has this morning revealed that Michael Walsh has signed for Unibond league side Alsager Town.

The 29-year-old defender was released by Vale in May after nine years with the club.

Walsh has claimed to have turned down three league clubs since his release from Vale Park as he does not want to uproot his family from Alsager.

Walsh’s career at Vale was blighted by horrendous injuries, but despite this he was still recognised as the most accomplished defender at the club. Many fans felt that Walsh deserved another season at Vale Park to complete his ten year service and receive a testimonial.

The sad part about this news is that Walsh is far too good a player to be dropping down to non-league football.
