Boss Micky Adams was understandably delighted after a double from Marc Richards and Sean Rigg`s first league goal of the season saw Vale set a club record, winning their first four league away games of the season after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Macclesfield Town. Speaking to the Official Site, Adams was thrilled with the performance that saw Vale go level on points with leaders Shrewsbury. ‘My staff have worked superbly well but I have to give all credit and plaudits to the players. They have got to the ones believing and understanding what they are doing-they have to have the confidence to go out and do the things they want`.

oasting one of the meanest defences in the division last season, so far this term Vale have managed to hit the back of the net on a more regular basis, largely thanks to the partnership of the two Richards, Justin laying on both goals for Marc on this occasion. Adams added, ‘I wouldn`t want to play against them. I think that Justin Richards was so unselfish, it wasn`t true. The combination of play is there and they seem to know where each other is. That isn`t a fluke- they work hard at that on a daily basis and their link up play is great`.

ith two home games coming up against Accrington and high flyers Shrewsbury, Vale will certainly be in buoyant mood and have a great opportunity to take an outright lead at the top of the table.
