Following Saturday`s loss at Morecambe which saw Vale`s long unbeaten run end, Micky Adams has refused to hit the panic button after the Valiants lost top spot in League Two. For the second time this season, Vale were defeated following Adams being named as manager of the month, a trend all Vale fans will be happy to see continue however. The Vale boss told BBC Radio Stoke after the game: ‘We’ve created enough chances to win two games never mind one.

‘The only people who’ve suffered in the break that we’ve had is the forwards because we’ve not been able to do the work that we should with them.

‘Have a look at the stats, corner count, goal opportunities and then come back to me and say Morecambe looked better than us because they didn’t.’

Vale have the perfect opportunity to return to winning ways, as they face two home games over Christmas, against Barnet and Lincoln City, both of whom are struggling at the wrong end of the table. Vale`s recent record against the so called ‘lesser` sides hasn`t been great, with dropped points at Hereford and Morecambe recently.

The Valiants have been boosted by the return of defender Lee Collins, who made his reappearance from injury when replacing Gareth Owen during the first half of Saturday`s encounter. Collins, amongst others, will be hoping for a return to first team duty ahead of the Barnet clash, as Adams may well be set to ring the changes after the Valiants first defeat in 13.
