Vale boss Micky Adams declared himself happy with his January business, though hasn`t ruled out dipping into the loan market when that opens next week. Having secured the services of Lee Hughes, Darren Purse, Chris Birchall and Daniel Jones, Adams avoided the last minute scramble for players. Kingsley James and Clayton McDonald both left Vale Park on loan deals and there remains the possibility that young winger Ryan Lloyd may follow in order to gain some much needed first team experience.

One man who will not be returning is the former Vale defender Lee Collins. Having left the club following Vale`s slide into administration last season for £50,000, Collins has had his contract terminated by Championship club Barnsley. The former Wolves player failed to settle at the Yorkshire club and a spell at League One side Shrewsbury Town also proved fruitless. Despite showing some promising form during his first couple of seasons at Vale, injuries hampered his performances during the latter part of his time in the Potteries and Adams has indicated that his has no plans to bring back the popular defender at the present time.
