Michael Cummings returned in goalscoring form from a groin injury in the 2-1 loss to Hartlepool United at the weekend.

He said having returned to his preferred central role: ‘I feel I am doing alright, getting chances, popping up there and I seem to be taking them. Last year I was struggling a bit and missed a fair few, but now I feel I am contributing to the team effort. I am a bit more involved. Sometimes playing out wide, the game can just pass you by. You tend to drift inside and go looking for the ball, which doesn’t help the rest of the team.’

He also said about the teams form: ‘ Although we have picked up three away wins this season, we have faltered at home recently – something the Irishman is keen to put right. I think in home games we sometimes feel we have just got to turn up and win the games, when obviously there is a lot of hard work to do. We have lost more home games this season than we have for the last two years, so obviously there is a concern. The incentive is there to go and win on Friday night and then get through to the third round and get a good draw, either at home or away. Wrexham isn’t too far away and hopefully they will bring a few with them and we could be in for a good cup game.’
