Vale will be disappointed with this result. A bright opening 25 minutes for the Vale saw countless chances squandered. Vale finally took the lead on 41 minutes, Malvin Kamara finishing after good work from Talbot and Constantine.

Cheltenham got back into the match in the second half, Odejayi proving to be a constant menace and forced some good saves from Joe Anyon. Odejayi had earlier hit the bar in the first half.

The Cheltenham equaliser came on 70 minutes. Vale failed to deal with a throw-in and Michael Townsend fired the ball into the roof of the net.
