Caretaker boss Mark Grew was ‘delighted` to take a point from last night`s clash with Hereford United after Tom Pope headed home an injury time equaliser.

The result saw the Valiants drop to ninth spot in League Two, but Grew believes it could yet turn out to be a crucial point come May. He told BBC Radio Stoke: “All credit to Hereford, I thought they played some good stuff and were quick on the break.

‘I’m delighted and who knows how important that point could be.

The stand in boss did hint that there could be changes to the side ahead of Saturday`s crunch clash with high flying Bury. “Some of the players you expect to perform haven`t performed as I would like, so they might have to look over their shoulders for Saturday”.

Following recent events it was hardly surprising the Vale struggled to hit top form last night. However, with an increasingly congested race for the play-off positions, results are going to have to turn sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, on loan Peterborough defender Exodus Geohaghon is said to be taking legal advice following claims that he suffered racial abuse during the chaotic defeat at Accrington Stanley. Geohaghon needed to be separated from supporters during what were ugly scenes at the end of the game at the Crown Ground.

The FA commented: ‘We are looking into the alleged incidents as part of a preliminary investigation, which is normal practice.

‘We’ll speak to both clubs and look at any available evidence before deciding whether we need to investigate the matter further.’
