Jamie Guy…

Colchester Utd Striker Jamie Guy is currently training with Vale with a view to securing a loan deal at Vale Park.

Guy, who celebrates his 22nd birthday today, has been with Colchester since 2004, however, has spent most of the past five years farmed out on loan to the likes of Oxford Utd, Cambridge Utd, Tiptree Utd, Gravesend & Northfleet. Last season saw him loaned out to Dagenham & Redbridge – where he scored just one goal in his nine league appearances. Who was it against? Us!

For those who get themselves all excited over facts and stats click here for the Wiki page on Jamie. It doesn’t make particularly good reading, but we should be grateful for whatever we receive.

Obviously Manager Micky Adams is not entirely happy with what he has at his disposal striker wise – Geoff Horsfield is some way off full fitness, Marc Richards is once again injured and looks unlikely to be available for the start of the season, Danny Glover and Steve Thompson have yet to prove themselves good enough at this level. Louis Dodds and James Lawrie have a lot to offer, but are not the ‘target man’ material that Adams likes to lead the front line.

The season starts in just one weeks time and we still look some distance from where we need to be. Lets not get too optimistic about next Saturday…

Well, think he could do ok. Not a bad player – has got good potential. Powerful and has some pace.

His stats aren’t impressive but I don’t care, he’ll do for me! Get him in Adams!

second game in and he scores, his stats may not be too good but this could be his time with us.

Yeah, I’d have him in our squad. Looks quite handy.
