Port Vale’s League 1 season continued with a win against Southend at Vale Park on Friday.

A fine three-one victory was picked up by Vale against play-off chasing Southend, who had earlier in the week in front of the Sky Sports cameras beaten table topper Burton.

Carl Dickinson, with his second goal this season, had Vale one-up. Two-goals in as many minutes at the end of the first half had the Valiant three-up at half time. Firstly through Michael O’Connor then his freekick was turned past his own ‘keeper by Southend defender Ben Coker.

Southend ‘won’ the second half with an injury-time goal from Sam McQueen with them also missing an even later penalty, which David Mooney fired over.

These were the other results.
