21-year-old Leicester City striker Louis Dodds has now officially joined Vale on a two year deal.
Gaffer Lee Sinnott told the official Vale site:
‘I think if the fans are looking for a player to relate to Louis can operate up front and he can operate in midfield…He comes with a good pedigree, whatever level he has played at he has scored goals.’
Dodds was on loan at Lincoln City last season where he scored 9 goals, and he describes himself on the official Vale site as an ‘attacking midfielder’.
Given that Vale have six strikers in the squad already, and lack any creative dynamics in midfield it is more than plausible that Sinnott has brought to Vale Park to play principally as a midfielder.
Vital Port Vale wishes Louis all the best at Vale Park…

Lincoln fan here. Think Dodds will be a good signing for you – he’s a good finisher and really puts the effort in. He’s not really a midfielder in the eyes of most Lincoln fans though. I think you’ll need to play him up front to get the best out of him.
Another Lincoln fan – I wish we’d got him, he did well in a poor season for us and will improve some more yet.
Sounds promising from what the Lincoln Fans are saying! Potentially a really good signing!
I’ve noticed a few Leicester fans are sad to see him go so he must have a lot to offer.
Peter Jackson has been singing his praises today – says he would have liked to have had him at Lincoln again next season.
He didn’t try to sign him despite Dodds angling for it so he obviously wasn’t that keen.
I think he was but had other options before dods, in the end we ran out of time and louis got fed up waiting.
I dont think PJ went in for him, which was a surprise to us Imps. Knows where the goal is, and played as a striker should score a few. Some question marks about work rate and drifting in and out of some games though.
