Young midfielder Sam Morsy has been rewarded following a series of impressive performances by signing a new two year contract to stay at Vale Park.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers youth team player has played a key role in the side over the last couple of months after former boss Jim Gannon identified as the most talented player at the club. The 19 year old has had to bide his time for a regular spot in the first team, as Micky Adams opted for experience in the middle of the park.

Having guided Morsy through the youth and reserve teams during his time at the club, Caretaker boss Mark Grew explained the decision to hand the midfielder a new deal. Grew told Official Site ‘I have worked with Sam for a number of years and I am delighted that he has decided to commit his immediate future to Port Vale.

‘He looks at ease with first -team football and as he’s only 19, he has the potential to become an even better player.

‘He’s also a nice lad and works very hard, so I am personally delighted that he has been rewarded with a new deal.’

The youngster will need to maintain his best form with fans favourite Gary Roberts pushing hard for a return to the side for Saturday`s visit to League leaders Chesterfield.
