Following the serious knee injury sustained by Florent Cuvelier on Saturday, Micky Adams has wasted little time in adding another midfielder to his squad.

Cuvelier suffered damage to his cruciate knee ligaments which will result in a five month lay -off. It`s a cruel blow for the 21 year old, who lasted only 30 minutes into his debut for the Valiants before suffering the blow.

In his place arrives Sunderland midfielder Billy Knott, who has recently enjoyed a loan spell with League two side Wycombe Wanderers. Knott will be ineligible for Saturday`s FA Cup tie with Brighton after making an appearance in the completion already.

Vale have also been handed a boost with the news that Jack Grimmer has been given permission by his parent club Fulham to play on Saturday.
