Rodgers missing tomorrow

Striker Luke Rodgers – scorer of our two goals so far this campaign – may be ruled out of tomorrows game at Yeovil after picking up an injury in training according to ‘The Sentinel’.

This comes as a big blow to Vale as the 25-year-old striker, who was in fine form throughout pre-season, has been our main threat in the two games to date.

Rodgers pulled up in training with a pain behind his knee.

The good news for Vale is that Akpo Sodje is fit and available for the game tomorrow. Sodje was substituted last Saturday after picking up a knock, and was absent from the mid-week disappointment in The Carling Cup.

Manager Martin Foyle remains pragmatic on the Rodgers situation, and is convinced that with Sodje, Richards and Willock all fit Vale have enough quality up front.

Vale have yet to score from open play this season, scoring a penalty in each of our two games – newly promoted Bristol Rovers last Saturday and League.2 Wrexham in midweek.

doesn’t bode well at all! Rodgers is the only one who’s looked like scoring for us. Big blow if he can’t make the game.
