The Feudin’, Fussin’ & A-Fightin’ Is Finished!

Stoke Manager Tony Pulis has been gushing about his love for Micky Adams in The Sentinel, and has offered to help our new messiah out with a few loans.

Its been a lot of years since us and Stoke did any business together, and thats probably not a bad thing as the lardies have been the ones to benefit in the past – anyone remember Steve Waddington in the late ’70s? Managed about one game in two seasons for us? We were stitched up like kippers. And how about the wonderful Mark Chamberlain in the early ’80s? That was a sad day when we had to sell him to them.

Anyway, the intense rivalry that existed through the ’90s (when we were numero uno in The Potteries) has been tempered by current circumstances. Whilst they are entertaining the likes of Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea we are languishing in the land that time forgot with the joys of visits to Macc, Dagenham and Accrington. So there is really no need for the embargo allegedly enforced by Stoke Chairman Peter Coates – apparently his response to Martin Foyle sniffing around their fringe players some time ago was a haughty ‘We won’t do business with Vale’. Allegedly.

Of course we won’t be getting any established players on loan, that just isn’t going to happen. However, I’m sure they have three or four promising youngsters who could liven things up in our squad.

I know many Vale fans will be opposed to Stoke players coming over to Vale Park, but if it benefits us then surely thats all that matters?

Her in the picture isn’t a patch on Port Vale Girl who is now incidentally the official Miss Port Vale. I have it on good authority that Stoke tabled a bid of £500,000 for Colin Miles in 2007 but we turned it down.

I think this could work well for us although personally I don’t particularly want to see any sjoke players at Vale Park. Beggars can’t be choosers though!
