Vale To Face Coventry Fixture Change?

Despite Northampton Town missing out on promotion to league One, the Valiants could well be making a return to Sixfields next season.

BBC Coventry and Warwickshire are today reporting that Coventry City could be on the verge of agreeing a deal to play their games at Northampton for the next three seasons after turning down a deal to stay at the Ricoh Stadium rent free.

The Sky Blues remain in administration despite being bought by Otium Entertainment Group last week. Whether this is all a political game to secure a better deal for themselves is unclear. Northampton Chairman David Cardoza revealed, “‘There’s some legs in this, but it’s not near done and dusted.’

‘It’s speculation at the minute, but we’ll see where this goes. I’m a little bit surprised about some of the stuff that’s been said.’

There would be some practical problems with the move as both Northampton and Coventry play their home games on the same day, so if the move goes ahead, Vale could well be looking at a fixture change for their clash with Coventry, which is currently scheduled for March 15th.
