A bad week got even worse today as Vale manager Micky Adams revealed that the club had been placed under a transfer embargo. Following Chris Neal`s ankle injury and an illness to Ryan Boot, Adams was hoping to add a keeper on an emergency basis ahead of Saturday`s game at Stevenage. However, the Football League informed the Vale boss that he was unable to do so. There has thus far been no indication of why, or for how long, the embargo has been in place. Such sanctions are usually a result of a non-paid football bill, although it is unclear in this instance, but Fulham`s recall of Jack Grimmer today has added to speculation that this could be the reason. Whatever the reason it is hardly likely to brighten Adams` mood after he revealed earlier this week he was considering his future at the club.

It seems inconceivable that Adams wasn`t informed of the development and only heaps further embarrassment on those tasked with running the club and the obvious need for some experience in dealing with the day to day running of a football club.
