Walsh may leave football

Defender Michael Walsh has said in ‘The Sentinel’ that he is considering leaving football for good.

The 29-year-old insists that he does not want to uproot his family from their home in Alsager (South Cheshire), and if that means leaving football and taking up another trade then he is prepared to do so.

Walsh has had offers from clubs outside the Staffordshire/Cheshire area, but is not interested in moving area. Walsh explains to ‘The Sentinel’: ‘That would mean changing our lives just for me. I have to look to the future, and that could be college or a plumbing course because I want something good financially. I have never done anything like plumbing before, but it is one of those jobs people want.’

Personally I’d be amazed if Walsh is not snapped up. Apparently Crewe have already denied any interest in the Centre-Half, but with Macclesfield, Stockport, Chester, Wrexham and Walsall all in reasonable distance from Alsager I’m sure Walsh will have a new club next season.

Good luck and all the best.

Walshy will undoubtedly be signed up by someone. He is not making any wage demands and would be perfect for Macc, Chester, Stockport.

I still can’t believe Foyle has made this decision. Walsh is head-and-shoulders above every over defender at the club. He will definitely find a club for next season.

I wish him all the best. Our loss will be someone else’s gain.
