Continuing our series of matches…

Continuing our nostalgic series looking back at some notable games against Vale`s League One opponent next season. From Vale`s ultimately heart-breaking season of 1992-93, when the Valiants were denied promotion by West Bromwich Albion (and Roger Milford!) in the play-off final despite finish the campaign with a total of 89 points, a then record tally for teams who hadn`t secured automatic promotion.

The win over Stockport County a week earlier in the final of the Autoglass Trophy remains one of the most memorable days in the club`s history, however.

Vale`s 1-0 win over Leyton Orient was achieved despite the O`s mightily impressive home record and a sending off on debut for Bernie Slaven. Ray Walker`s fine goal was enough to give the Valiants the victory.
