Rob Page’s unbeaten spell as caretaker boss of Port Vale was ended by defeat on Saturday afternoon.

Port Vale gave as good as they got, maybe better, against Fleetwood Town at the Highbury Stadium this weekend but a late goal made sure that the home side won 1-0.

A first half, which saw us with the better chances, ended goalless but we did go down to 10-men with Jordan Slew sent off for raising an arm to Stephen Jordan, soft but the referee sent him off just before half time.

Even with 10-men we continued to created chances with Tom Pope heading against the bar.

Fleetwood’s pressure eventually grew though with David Ball winning a penalty for the home side after being fouled by Ryan McGivern.

Crystal Palace loanee Stephen Dobbie (80) took responsibility and the striker fired home to give Fleetwood a one-nil win.
