Tom Pope scored another brace for Port Vale as Rob Page led us to another win, and in impressive style at Vale Park on Saturday afternoon. Yeovil Town were the visitors but were easily brushed aside 4-1.

Yeovil started brightly and almost took the lead but from 20-yards Simon Gillett was narrowly off target before Pope (18) powered home header low from a Mark Marshall cross and then Yeovil were made to pay for not clearing a Chris Lines’ corner as Pope (29) made it two, as he had in our midweek Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat to Preston North End he had a brace.

A minute into the second half Lines (46), with Marshall again the architect, firing past Yeovil ‘keeper Jake Kean to make it three.

Kieffer Moore almost headed the visitors back into the game but Marshall himself, Pope, who could have had a hat-trick, and substitute Colin Daniel all had great chances to further extend the lead but none took them….

An inability to keep a clean sheet has haunted us this season, and still we seek this first one after Aaron Martin (86) beat Chris Neal late on for a Yeovil consolation but Daniel (90) had the last say as we entered into injury-time as he ran through to complete a four-one win.
