Roberts Set To Exit Vale?

The latest in a long line of depressing stories to come out of Vale Park concerns the future of star midfielder Gary Roberts. Vale boss Jim Gannon is believed to be keen on shipping out the fans` favourite, with Bristol Rovers and Sheffield United both interested in taking him on loan

With a huge month coming up that will go a long way to determining Vale`s hopes of promotion, it seems the latest in a long line of bizarre decisions by Gannon. Admittedly, Roberts has struggled to match his early season performances, although he has shown signs of recapturing his best form over recent weeks. With a small squad, and at the busiest point of the season, quite why you would let your most creative player leave the club is beyond most fans` reasoning.

The former Crewe midfielder has reportedly clashed with Gannon on a couple of occasions since the Irishman`s arrival at Vale, but surely the manager must harness Roberts` undoubted talent. Obviously, Gannon is either unable to handle Roberts on a personal basis, or for some reason he doesn`t believe he is good enough to get into his starting eleven. The fact that two clubs from higher divisions are after him would suggest otherwise.

Don’t blame Gannon for this, you were warned about Roberts. He usually does pull himself together for a few months but he was always a ticking time bomb.

  • DISI says:

fair point dink, but Gannon could fall out with his shadow
