Vale took three points from Moss Rose thanks to a terrific blunder from ex-Vale Keeper Johnny Brain.

With the game seemingly headed for a 0-0 draw after a drab second half a speculative 30-yarder from Adnan Ahmed late on gave Johnny Brain(pictured above) a nightmare and Vale the lead. The game was wrapped up minutes later when substitute Louis Dodds thundered home the second, his seventh of the season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke afterwards Manager Dean Glover had this to say:

‘this is what we needed and we got it tonight… we’ve got to start hitting the target more often and we’ve thoroughly deserved it tonight’

When questioned about the protest banners unfurled by Vale Fans at tonights game Glover would only offer a blunt ‘No comment’
