Travelling by car

From The North – M6 down to junction 16, then as above. Alternatively you could come off at Junction 17 (Sandbach/Congleton). Once you are off the M6 turn right towards Congleton. At the crossroads take a right (kidsgrove). Drive through Kidsgrove, then Goldenhill, Tunstall and you’ll be in Burslem.

From Yorkshire/East Midlands – Take M1 to A50 near Derby. A50 will take you west and straight into Stoke-On-Trent via A500.

Travelling by train

Stoke-On-Trent station is about 4 miles away from Burslem, so you’ll want to jump in to a taxi when you arrive (£6-7). There is a bus service to Burslem from the station (outside the entrance of the train station turn left and the bus stop is a short walk). Catch the number 29 (Bradeley), this will take you to Burslem town centre. This will cost about £1.50.

Fancy a pint?

The Vine (located near the ground on Hamil Road) caters for away fans. There are other decent pubs in Burslem – but it can get a little bit lairy on a match day.

A brief history…

Back in 1944 the board at Port Vale had a dream. To build a stadium like no other, a footballing Cathedral where 70 000 spectators could watch the Awesome Valiants slay all that came before them.

It was dubbed ‘The Wembly Of The North’.

Unfortunately they had not given enough consideration to the cost of such a project, and amid rising costs had to ‘downsize’ the scale of the stadium. Vale Park finally opened in 1950 with a capacity of 40 000. Today Vale Park has an all-seater capacity of 23 000.
