A second half blitz from Port Vale saw us secure a 3-0 win over Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon.

There wasn’t much quality about the first half but three-goals in the final 30-minutes ensured that we ran out comfortable winners in the end, against an Orient side that ended with 10-men.

We always seemed the more likely side to breakthrough with Gary Woods saving a 30-yard Ryan McGivern effort well and then turning a Chris lines effort on the post before the visitors went down to 10-men before half time.

Darius Henderson’s elbow on Richard Duffy earned him an early bath.

Jordan Slew thought he had sent us into the break one-up but his header was ruled out with the offside flag raised.

Shortly passed the hour mark Adam Yates (63) finally broke through when he finished into the top corner, having been set-up by Mark Marshall. Ben Williamson (66) scored an almost carbon copy of that goal just three-minutes later to double the lead.

Any doubts about the outcome were confirmed in the final 10-minutes when Nathan Clarke (81) deflected Michael O’Connor’s freekick into his own net to wrap up our three-nil win.
